WEST GIRLS ATHLETICS

West Girls Athletics | 9/26/2025

Last night, the Wranglers faced off against their hometown rivals, the East Broncos, in front of their home crowd. The Wranglers also had the opportunity to honor the West Staff last night— we are so grateful for our amazing staff and all that they do to pour into our athletes. With a crowd full of staff, students, and family members cheering on our team for their first home game, the energy in the gym was at an all time high and set the tone for an incredible night of volleyball.

To start off the night, our B Team came in with a fire to keep our undefeated season continuous! With some killer serves and great communication, the girls came out with a win in our first set with a score of 25-19. Going into the second set, however, the Broncos were not done fighting. With a close winning set of 25-22, the Broncos came back with long serving streaks, deep hits, and reading the court well for smart passes, they came back and tied up the game 1-1! Going into the third set, our Wranglers were prepared to take back the court at home. The energy, the communication, the hits, and the teamwork ended up bringing our girls on top with a win of 15-9! The undefeated season continues! Our Wranglers of the Week are Maya Matthew and Daana Kavali.

After an exciting match from the B team, the Wranglers A team took the court with new levels of excitement and energy. The Broncos were consistently and powerfully attacking the ball, but the Wranglers had excellent defense with accurate passes, great blocks and block touches, and excellent communication. The Broncos took home the first set, but the Wranglers did not give up the fight. Despite facing some powerful serves in the second set, the Wranglers serve/receive was as strong as ever— they refused to let anything hit the floor and continuously passed the ball right to target. This allowed our setters to get some amazing sets to our hitters who got some incredible, powerful hits. Ultimately, the Wranglers were able to bring home a win 25-14 in the second set. Although they fell short in the third set, we are so proud of the A Team and the incredible fight they put up against their crosstown rivals. Our Wranglers of the Week are Alana Smith and Emery Juarez.

Finally, our C Team took the court with energy and excitement, hoping to follow the B Team’s footsteps in keeping their undefeated record. The girls approached the game with determination and power, hitting hard, setting beautifully, and communicating perfectly. With the first set ending in a win, the score being 25-12, we went into our second set even more excited. Shaking off the nerves of a few great serves sent over by the Broncos, the Wranglers came back and attacked their passes, serves, and hits with resilience. In the end, the Wrangler C Team kept their undefeated season with a win of 25-10 in the second set. Our Wranglers of the Week are Samantha Acuña and Inayat Bathla.

We are so proud of this team and their amazing showing in front of their home crowd this week. Thank you again to all of the amazing staff, students, and friends/family who came to support us this week! Next week, the Wranglers will travel to Colleyville to face off against the Colleyville Colts— we hope to see you there!
