Our West Girls Wrestling team had a full and exciting week last week! During the week, the Wranglers had their second meet of the season, which was also their first meet in the CHS Arena. Over the weekend, the Wranglers had their first of two tournaments this season in Allen. We are so proud of our athletes and their incredible showing this week.
On Wednesday, the Wranglers traveled to Coppell High School to compete against the East Broncos, North Cougars, Dawson Dragons, and Carroll Dragons. The Wranglers have been putting in lots of hard work in practice, and it truly showed on the mats this week. By the end of the meet, the Wranglers were able to earn 28 wins and 17 pins. This brought their season total to 60 wins and 32 pins. In just two matches, the Wranglers have already made it clear that they're striving to beat two West Girls Wrestling records: most wins and most pins in a single season. These records were both shattered in the 2024-25 season and now stand at 136 (wins) and 94 (pins).
On Saturday, the Wranglers traveled to Allen High School to compete against nearly 20 schools. The competition was fiercer than ever, but the Wranglers did not back down from the challenge. They did a phenomenal job of leaving everything on the mats, supporting one another well both on and off the mats, and remaining incredibly flexible in the face of several last minute changes. Unfortunately, due to the large number of wrestlers brought by the 18 schools, the Wranglers were only able to wrestle a very small number of matches. However, a highlight on the mats was that they were able to secure three wins by pins! In addition to these pins and more exciting moments on the mats, the Wranglers were also able to earn 3 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals, to have a lot of fun, and to show amazing growth and composure on and off the mats. Congratulations to all of our athletes on an amazing tournament!
We could not be prouder of our wrestlers, their hard work and dedication, and the growth we've already seen from them this season. We cannot wait for an amazing remainder of the season together! We hope to see you at our next meet later this week at Cross Timbers against the East Broncos, North Cougars, and Cross Timbers Wolves.
