Lady Wranglers Take on Lady Colts on the Road

WEST ATHLETICS

West Athletics | 12/12/2025

The Lady Wranglers went into their second week of the season prepared for hard fought games against the Lady Colts at Colleyville Middle School. With hopes of a few wins and some more practice under their belt, our teams were prepared as the whistle blew for the start of the games.
The Coppell West B Team started off the game strong with great defense. Making the Lady Colts push the ball and work for rebounds, Defensive Wrangler of the Week Anya Shah, worked hard in the paint to make sure that the ball was taken for Wrangler possessions. Offensive Player of the Week, Maya Drake, was able to push through the defense of the Lady Colts with multiple fast breaks, layups made, and rebounded shots put up. The game had started close, with the Lady Colts in the lead by only 8-10 at the most. However, as the game continued and the exhaustion hit, the Lady Wranglers started to struggle with their communication and keeping the ball. By the end of the game, the Lady Wranglers lost to the Lady Colts 31-12.
The A Team took the floor quickly after the B Team, looking for redemption on the court. Just like the B Team, the game started off strong and close, with multiple Lady Wranglers fighting for the ball, making fast breaks, and shooting shots. Offensive Player of the Week, Keira Suez, led the team again in points made and offensive decision making that led the Lady Wranglers to higher scores each time they went down the court. As for our Defensive Player of the Week, Saanvi Thapa, she continued to show the Lady Colts and her own team what great defensive looks like. Cutting off fast breaks, going for hard rebounds, and tackling for the loose ball, she helped the Lady Wranglers stay close in score throughout the entire game. Overall, the Lady Wranglers played hard and well, but sadly fell short to the Lady Colts 32-21.
Going into the last game of the night, the C Team approached the game scrappy and ready to fight for the ball. Our Defensive Player of the Week, Adrianna Reyes, used her strength and communication skills to be able to help control the narrative in the paint, jumping for hard balls and getting the ball out of a danger zone. Our Offensive Player of the Week, Samantha Acuna, did an impeccable job fast breaking down the court for lay ups, working for shots, running the offense well and leading her team well. Although tons of shots were put up and great plays were made, the score ended up low, with the Lady Colts winning 20 to 1.
The Lady Wranglers have a bye week next week before winter break. However, we are looking forward to getting back on the court after break and play on January 15th against Cross Timbers Middle School.
