Last night, the West Wranglers faced off against the East Broncos and the North Cougars in the highly anticipated All-City Championship meet in their home gym.
The Wranglers had been looking forward to this meet all season, so spirits were high as we took the mats. Many incredible friends, family members, and staff came out to support our athletes, so the energy in the gym was higher than ever. We are so proud of Wranglers and their constant hard work on the mats and their relentless support of their team off the mats.
The Wranglers started the night with an exciting match by Haley Gomez that ended with a win by pin. This set the tone for the night, with many wins and pins to follow. Lilia Delarosa was the final wrestler of the night, and after a well-fought match, she was also able to bring home a win and finish the match for the Wranglers just like we started it.
By the end of the night, the Wranglers were able to earn 29 wins and 20 pins. Their hard work also enabled them to bring home 20 medals (9 bronze, 6 silver, and 5 gold) which brought their total to 31 medals earned this season. Thanks to their hard work, the Wranglers were able to bring home their fourth consecutive All-City Championship win!
We are so proud of the Wranglers and their historic season. Below are a few of the records they set this season:
1. First School to Win 4 All-City Championships
2. School with the Longest All-City Championship Streak
3. Most Team Wins In A Single West Wrestling Season
4. Most Team Pins in A Single West Wrestling Season
5. Most Matches Wrestled In A Single West Wrestling Season
6. Most Pins By Any West Girls Wrestler In A Single Season (Congratulations, Captain Ariella Aguilar!)
7. Most Pins By A West Girls 7th Grader In A Single Season (Congratulations, Lilia Delarosa!)
We can’t believe that this officially marks the end of our season. It has been an honor coaching this amazing group of athletes, and we truly could not be prouder of them and all of the amazing things they have accomplished on and off the mats this season. Congratulations on an INCREDIBLE season, West Wranglers!
A few of our incredible athletes will be going on to compete in a post-season Middle School State tournament next Friday at Coppell High School. Good luck to all!
