This week, the West Wranglers competed in the midseason tournament against their crosstown rivals: the North Cougars and the East Broncos.
On Thursday, it was time for the Wranglers to face off against the Cougars, but first, the team traveled to Chick-Fil-A to enjoy a team dinner together! It was an amazing opportunity for team bonding and quality time for the Wranglers. After dinner, the team headed over to East to play their first crosstown rivalry game. Both A team and B team fought hard against the North and left everything on the field. They remained aggressive on defense, had excellent saves in the goal (including a save from guest goalie, Kena Kimathi!), and had several great attacks on offense. Although the North Cougars ultimately were victorious, the Wranglers had so much to be proud of after tonight’s games.
On Friday, the Wranglers traveled back to East to face off against the East Broncos. Both the A team and the B team’s games were neck and neck, with many offensive attacks and shots on goal throughout the game. Diya Atluri (assisted by Venus Nguyen) and Sanavi Kulkarni were able to earn beautiful goals to put points on the board for the Wranglers, and goalies Ariella Aguilar, Jocelyn Smith, and Umaimah Suhail had excellent saves throughout the game to prevent the Broncos from scoring. Both games were incredibly competitive throughout and were an amazing showing from the West Wranglers. Although the Broncos were eventually able to outscore the Wranglers, we are so proud of the heart, effort, and growth we saw on the field tonight.
Next week, the West Wranglers will have their final home game of the season against the Cross Timbers Wolves. We hope to see you there!
