In their first meet of the season, The Wrangler Cross Country Teams competed at home on a mile course that was a combination of grass, track, and turf. Many athletes met personal bests in the mile, and each moved up throughout the race.
The 7th grade girls had a great first race of their careers with two medalists - Paola F. (7:01) & Sophia T. (6:41) - in 10th & 7th place. They were closely followed by their teammates who each had strong performances, as well - Asuka S. (7:49), Kaavya N. (8:11), and Solai N. (9:24). They took 5th place as a team. The 7th grade boys also placed 5th, led by Elias S. (7:01). The 8th grade girls team only has 4 runners right now, so they did not score as a team (it takes 5 runners to score in a cross country meet). Nevertheless, all matched or beat their personal bests from last year led by Manasa B. (7:12), and newcomer, Leilani N. (7:15). Finally, Aryan Dalal (5:39), who placed 3rd individually, led the 8th grade boys team to a 4th place finish.
One of the highlights of the night was seeing & hearing so many fans from the fence line as athletes ran the grass portion of the course. There was a visible difference in each runner’s posture & confidence in those moments. Thank you to all of the teachers, parents, & teammates who cheered us on to success!
