The CMS West Wrangler XC Team competed in Justin, Texas at Pike Middle School this Wednesday night.

While the slower course challenged all of the athletes, their hard working in training started to show fruit. Every runner looked and felt stronger than the week before even if their times didn’t show it.

Haniel Johnson, 8th Grade, led the race for 2600m of the 3200m race to finish in 2nd - his highest place of the season. The Tidwell runner who beat him last week was only 9 seconds faster Wednesday, compared to 25 seconds the week prior. Closing the gap with a final time of 11:21! Aryan Dalal ran close behind him, finishing 5th - beating runners who out-kicked him last week at Dawson. Dhruv Chitiprolu found his stride tonight, as well as Manasa Borra - both of these 8th grade runners looked stronger than ever as a result of their dedication at practice each afternoon.

Elias Segovia, Sophia Tran, and Paola F all put up strong fights in the 7th grade races. Elias ran a personal best of 16:46, beating his previous time by over 2 minutes. Kaavya N and Lindsay Yoo both battled injuries yet persisted through pain for an inspiring show of grit. Solai Nachiyappan ran her last race as a Westie and earned a personal best time of 21:48.
