This week the Wranglers took on the Vista Ridge Middle School Panthers. The A team came out swinging and managed to outscore the Panthers 8-6 in the first quarter. Guards James Faison, Haniel Johnson, Jacob Van Luvan, and Anant Jayaraman all aided in giving the Wranglers the first quarter edge. The Panthers responded in the second quarter going up by 9 points into the second half. The Wranglers continued to fight and compete, but struggled to get stops and score offensively. Post players Atharva Naktode and Ryan Truong stood out defensively for West and helped to stop the Panthers posts from scoring big near the basket. They experienced some good things, but plan to bounce back when they’re on the road against the Chisholm Trail Bulldogs.

The Wranglers started off the 2020-2021 Basketball season on the road against the Vista Ridge Panthers. The game started with strong defensive play on both sides and the score remained low for much of the 1st quarter, but the Panthers were able to take the lead and separate with strong offensive rebounding. Parth Patel, Daranswar Chandrasekaran, Yuvraj Bhandari contributed to the offense in the 1st half which closed with the score at 26-5. The Wranglers stepped up their defensive play coming out of halftime and held the Panthers to only 16 points in the 2nd half, but struggled to get the offense going in spite of points scored by Parth Patel and Khalid Azzam. The game concluded with a final score of 42-9. The Wranglers learned a great deal during this game and will work hard to improve before their next game on the road against Chisholm Trail.
