This week the Coppell Middle School West Wranglers took on their cross-town rivals, the Coppell Middle School North Cougars. The game was action-packed from start to finish. Trey Holt and Sebastian Pena got the Wranglers offense going early. The North Cougars responded with a few baskets of their own and tied the game up at 9, heading into the second quarter. In the second quarter, Levi Owira and Drake Baes hit three-pointers to give the Wranglers a six-point lead. The Cougars then went on a little run and cut the Wranglers lead down to two. The Wranglers went into halftime up 2 and the momentum swinging North’s way. After a few adjustments at halftime, the Wranglers stepped it up defensively and got multiple stops. Zyan Patel played great defense in his minutes played. Aston Huynh grabbed big rebounds in the fourth quarter to help seal the game. The Wranglers played with 6 players, but their conditioning and resiliency helped them pull out the victory. The Wranglers are looking to go 8-2 on the season as they play their last game against the Vista Ridge Middle School on the road next week Monday.

This week the Wranglers faced cross-town rivals the Coppell Middle School Cougars. The Wranglers started slowly with missing shots they usually make. The Wranglers got down big at the end of the first quarter. The Wranglers started chipping away in the second quarter to make the score close going into the half. The Wranglers were down 12 at halftime and were not playing the usual Wrangler basketball. After halftime, Bobby Hatfield stepped it up and made a few baskets for the Wranglers to cut into the Cougars lead. The Wranglers didn't have enough left in the tank to make a full comeback. The Wranglers lost 39-21. The Wranglers will be looking to bounce back next week on the road against Vista Ridge Middle School.
7th Grade C Team:

North: 41
The Coppell Middle School West Wrangler C Team lost their game at North this week. The final score was 41 to 21. The Coppell Middle School North Cougars got up to an early 9 point lead while the Wranglers struggled to get their offense going. The Cougars managed to keep the pressure on the whole game and expand the lead throughout the second half. Wrangler guard, Stanley Calvin, led the offense in scoring with 10 points this week. Wrangler center, Tiam Ansari, led the defense in rebounds with 4 on the game. Another notable defender this week was Wrangler guard, Omar Ismail, with 2 steals. Next week, the Wranglers will travel to Vista Ridge Middle School to play the Panthers in their final game of the season.
