7th Girls Basketball Hikes to Chisholm Trail

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Girls Basketball | 12/30/2021

Even though our C team was coming in with a 2 win-streak we unfortunately could not nab the win on Thursday night against Chisholm Trail. We started going back to some of our old bad habits and Chisholm Trail was able to take advantage of that. Despite the loss we didn’t allow them to score in the last quarter after applying some full court pressure on defense, and like every week we are seeing the opportunities we have for good things, and just need to continue to learn how to take advantage. Our player of the game this week was Abby Ruiz who had 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals.

B Team also struggled through some technical problems last night as running our offense really ended up holding us back from some great things. We got some looks in the lane through their zone defense but struggled to hold on to the ball when we needed it. Once we can make some good decisions faster, there will be a lot of great things for these girls in the future. Jada Kinnon and Suha Parvathaneni led the team in rebounds with a combined 12 rebounds, and our player of the game this week was Manali Patel with 6 points, and 5 steals for the game.

The Lady Wrangler A team had a slow start against the Chisholm Trail Lady Bulldogs on Thursday night. The Lady Wranglers did not put up any points in the first quarter and this really hurt their chances when Chisholm Trail was able to get 6 points before the Lady Wranglers could even answer back with their first points. The second quarter was much better with the Lady Wranglers adding 6 points to the Lady Bulldogs 2 points. The second half was back and forth with both teams trying to outdo their opponent, but ultimately, the Lady Wranglers fell short by only 4 points. Leading scorers for the Lady Wranglers were Dhrthi Bulusu and Aditi Yechangunja with 4 points each and Riya Suresh, Addison Howard and Vyshnavi Devarakonda each added 2. Player of the game goes to Dhrithi Bulusu for her overall aggressive play having 8 steals, 3 rebounds, as well as her 4 points. These girls are hoping to rest up and refocus over their break and come back ready for their first tournament of the season on Jan. 7.
