7TH LADY WRANGLERS WIN AGAINST FOSSIL HILL

7th Lady Wranglers Win against Fossil Hill

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Girls Basketball | 1/14/2022

Our C team started us off on Thursday night against Fossil Hill Middle School in our first regular season game after Christmas Break. Even though it was a slow night on the scoring side, the girls played good defense when we needed it most. There is definitely some confidence to build back up after the long break, but the girls were able to squeak out the win and start off on a positive note to finish out the back half of our season. Our player of the game was Abby Ruiz, who led the team in points and rebounds. Rachel Chio and Shreeya Komaravelli also contributed to the team with points, and Faiza Firdaws led the team in steals with 9 total.

The B Team also started off a little slow coming off the long break, and our defense couldn’t stop some of their shooters. We lacked some aggression that we ended the first semester in, and I am hoping that we can build some confidence back up before we take on North next week. Our leading scorer for the night was Kanishka Muthukuri with 9 points, Jada Kinnon led with 6 rebounds. We had 8 of our 9 players get on the board last night with some points which was great to see. Our player of the game this week was Ishani Tamma for her leadership and communication on the court.

The Lady Wrangler A team was hungry for their first win of the season on Thursday night, and that perseverance finally paid off! The girls battled the entire game against the Panthers and were down by 2 points at halftime. The Lady Wranglers came out in the third quarter ready to show the Panthers all the skills that they had been working on so diligently and outscored the Panthers 13 to 6 that quarter. This is what helped propel the Lady Wranglers to victory, beating the Panthers 25-22. Players of the game this week go to Addison Howard and Srija Gangannagari. Scoring this week for the Lady Wranglers were Addison Howard with 7 points, Taliah Ellis with 6, Hannah Polito with 4 and Riya Suresh, Bianca Podval, Vyshnavi Devarakonda and Diya Suresh with 2 points each. Dhrthi Bulusu and Srija Gangannagari each had 5 steals and 5 rebounds. Overall, a great job by all players and hopefully this boost will help get them ready for the next two weeks against North and East.
