The West Wrangler 8th grade football team competed in their first game of the season at home. The Wranglers started on defense to begin the game and came out flying around and getting great tackles from Anush Bindlsih, Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos, and Hridesh Sapoka. The Wranglers defense held strong in the first half, but Southlake Carroll offense was clicking on all cylinders. Quarterback Ayush Golla and running back Daniel Kim helped the Wranglers move the ball all first half. Pranav Vempati chased down a running back downfield and caused a tackle. The score was 21-0 at halftime with the Wranglers getting the ball to start the 2nd half. The offense couldn’t get anything going until a few great runs by Daniel Kim. In the second half, the Dragons got some key defensive stops and played with more momentum. Even though the Wranglers fought hard all game, the Carroll Dragons came out with the victory. The Wranglers will be looking to get on the winning column next week at home against Fossil Hill Middle School.

The Coppell Middle School West 8th Grade A Team took the field for their first game of the season this Wednesday against the Carroll Dragons. The Wranglers have added a lot of new players from the year before and were excited to get their season started. The defense did their best to keep the Dragons at bay but The House of the Dragon was too strong. Anthony Vazquez and Madhav Kumar gave great effort on the defensive line all night to help the defense. Late in the fourth quarter the West offense finally got rolling. Arya Bonthu lead the Wrangler drive at quarterback and Camron Chevleir-Tek set up the offense with a few good runs. The Offensive line lead by Vazquez and Ranjveer Lotay gave Bonthu plenty of time to find his receivers. Bonthu hit Tight End Phillip Fourdjour for a short pass, then Fourdjour marched his way into the end zone for the Wranglers lone touchdown of the evening. Bonthu then found Eron Quintero for the PAT but it was called back after a penalty. The Wranglers will face off against Fossil Hill Middle School next Tuesday at Coppell High School.
