West Athletics | 10/28/2022

This week, the Lady Wranglers took on their crosstown rival, the Coppell Middle School East Broncos, on their home court. It was Teacher Appreciation Night, and there was an incredible turnout of staff, students, and families. The energy in the gym was high, and the Lady Wranglers came out ready to play!

The C team's goal was to play well and have a fun last game together, and they stepped out on the court and did exactly that. The C team came out ready to play, and they played their best game of the season and had a great time on the court together. Their hustle, communication, ball control, serving, and encouragement were incredible. Although they did not secure the win, the Lady Wrangler C team has so much to be proud of both from this game and from this season. The players of the game were Dhrithi Nerella for her big hits and positive energy, Smritika Gajula for her attitude and hustle, and Sanvi Gubbi Arun for her leadership and serves.

The B team took the court with the highest level of energy they have had in any game this season. They were communicating, encouraging one another, moving to the ball, and having fun on the court together. The Broncos got out to an early lead in the first set, but the Lady Wranglers did not give up the fight. Although it was not enough to win them the first set, they had an incredible comeback that allowed them to carry a lot of momentum into the second set. During the second set, they played the most cohesively they have ever played as a team and fought for each and every point. After a beautiful ace by Mya Barnes, the Lady Wranglers won the second set. They continued to fight and play incredibly well through the third game, but the Broncos ultimately came out on top. The players of the game were Mya Barnes for her amazing serves and positivity, Siya Bohra for her awesome passes and energy, and Isabella Smith for her incredible saves and leadership.

The Lady Wrangler A team came out ready to win their last home game of the season, and that is just what they did. However, they wanted to keep it interesting by taking it to 3 against their cross-town rival, the East Broncos. All players gave it their all and did an amazing job! Esha Polishetty and Aaliyah Nicholson both had a great night behind the service line with both of them ending winning sets with their aggressive serves. Anaiya Keen and Layal Abou-Jamous had great defensive games and helped keep the back row in the game and the Broncos from going on serving streaks. Amani Harper and Angelisse Gomez kept the front row moving and were a force together with some big blocks on the net. Overall, the Lady Wranglers had an outstanding game and are looking forward to keeping this momentum with them into the end of season tournament that starts on Friday at CMS East.
