LADY WRANGLERS OPEN SEASON WITH WIN VS. THE LIONS

Lady Wranglers Open Season with Win vs. the Lions

GIRLS ATHLETICS

Basketball | 11/11/2022

WHAT A CLOSE GAME! All 4 quarters, the score went back and forth. However, the C Team played their hearts out and came out with a victory against Adams 15-12. The girls' defense was on fire and the Lions could not handle the heat. Our player of the game goes to Siya Bohra who dominated in shots made and steals against the Lions. Other defensive leaders include Maanya Vegesna and Isabella Smith who led her team in steals and rebounds. In the upcoming week, we will all work on improving our form, getting offensive and defensive rebounds, executing a press, and correctly executing an offense. Bring on the Dragons, we will be ready!

B team put in a hard fight against the Lions but fell short 12-20. The Lion's sheer height and speed was too much for our 8 girls who played relentlessly. This game did put some insight on what we need to improve on as a team. Collectively we need to work on following our shot, strong passes, rebounding, and knowing multiple positions to execute an offense or inbound play. We will work towards these goals next week during practice. Our players of the game goes to Addison Hatfield and Spruha Mudgalkar for leading their team in steals and rebounds! Spruha had 5 steals, and Addison had 9 rebounds. Another key player last night goes to Lilly Davis, whose intensity and aggression never waived. Overall we learned and will continue to work hard. We look forward to our next game against the Lady Dragons!

The A team finished the night with a competitive game against Adams. Against a fast Lions team, the Lady Wranglers started the game off strong with a good first half. They held the Lions to only 1 point in the 2nd quarter. Overall the girls played well in our defense under the basket, but struggled to keep up with fast breaks from Adams late in the game. While we took advantage of their disorganization in the first half, we struggled to maintain our intensity through the second half, losing a close final score of 26-34. Overall we saw some positive things, but definitely need some key players to step into their rhythm and gain some confidence before next week. Our player of the game this week was Amani Harper, who scored a total 21 points of our 26, had 10 steals, and 5 rebounds. Honorable mentions of the game were Srika Kondareddy with 6 rebounds, and Esha Polishetty who contributed to our strong defense throughout the game.

Next week the Lady Wranglers stay at home and take on the Carroll Dragons.
