On November 10, 2022, the Lady Wrangler 8th Grade Basketball Teams traveled to Leo Adams Middle School for their first game of the season. Facing the Lady Lions, the Lady Wranglers went head to head with some tough competition, having both B Team and A Team compete for a hopeful win in their first game.

The 8th Grade B Team started off the night with a great defensive game. Holding the Lady Lions 2-0 by the end of the first quarter, the team fought hard to try and secure points for the team as they went into the second quarter. By the end of the second half with 4 steals, 3 made by Kanishka Muthukuri, the Lady Wranglers trailed the Lady Lions 14-2. Going into the second half, Makayla Giddings got up 9 shots, being drawn to the free throw line twice for the Wranglers. Having 9 rebounds total and 5 steals, the Lady Wranglers fought hard in the second half but fell short, losing to the Lady Lions. The 8th Grade B Team fought well, having incredible man-to-man defense, and never giving up on trying to get the ball to the hoop. Great effort, Lady Wranglers!

The Lady Wrangler A team came out strong in the first half, scoring almost half of their points in the first quarter. The Lady Wranglers continued to battle in the second half, but the Lady Lions put on the pressure with an aggressive full court press and tough defense, leaving the Lady Wranglers trailing in the third and fourth quarters. All of the Lady Wranglers contributed in the close, hard-fought game, but the players of the game were Jamyson High-Williams with 7 steals, 7 rebounds and 13 points and Sophia Ennes with 3 steals and 8 points. Taliah Ellis led the team with 10 rebounds and also contributing 6 points. Overall, a great first game by the Lady Wranglers and we are looking forward to having more time to build on what we have already started.

The Lady Wranglers will travel to Carroll next Thursday to take on the Lady Dragons.
