The Coppell Middle School West Wrangler C Team won their first game this week at home against the Fossil Hill Middle School Panthers. The Wranglers got up to an early lead in the first quarter and went into the half with the lead. The Wranglers extended their lead in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Panthers 6 to 0. In the 4th quarter, the Panthers came back with 5 unanswered points, but the Wrangler defense was able to hold on, leading to the victory. Wrangler Forward Prateek Pilly, led the offense in scoring, with 5 points on the game. Guards, Believe Mbangi and Safal Kandel, both scored 4 points throughout the game. Wrangler Center, DeAndrea Mack, led the team with 7 rebounds. Wrangler Guard, Dev Patel, led the Wrangler defense and had 2 steals in the game. Next week, the Wranglers will play their first away game against the Vista Ridge Middle School Panthers.

B Team:

Fossil Hill: 22

The Coppell Middle School West Wranglers 7th Grade B team took the court for the first time after the Thanksgiving holiday looking for their first win of the season. The Wranglers came out hot early on and took a 6-0 lead after the first quarter. Their defense was keeping the Fossil Hill offense at bay and the Wranglers were getting good looks at the basket on the offensive end. The Wranglers took a 9-7 lead into halftime, but the Panthers got the game to an even 12-12 entering the 4th quarter. A few key offensive rebounds ending with 3 pointers for Fossil Hill would put the Wranglers behind. The Wranglers would have their highest scoring quarter of the game in the 4th, but the Panthers would outscore them by two and win the game 22-20. Leading the Wranglers in scoring were: Taylor Johns-8, Vihaan Desai- 4. Leading the Wranglers in rebounds were: Taylor Johns- 13, Pavan Venkatakrishnan- 6. The Wranglers will travel to Vista Ridge next Monday for their first away game of the year.


A Team:
West: 42
Fossil Hill: 27

The CMS West Wranglers were back in action this Wednesday taking on the Fossil Hill Panthers where one team was going to come away with their first win of the season. The Wranglers got off to a hot start and never looked back. West jumped out to a 14-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and never waivered. Their defense on the night led to an offensive explosion in transition. The defense had a season high 21 steals on the evening to go along with a season high 33 rebounds. The Wranglers came out of halftime a little sluggish and were outscored in the 3rd quarter 11-10 but it was too little, too late for the Panthers and the Wranglers cruised to a 42-27 win. Leading the Wranglers in scoring were: Pierce Huynh- 14, Siddhanth Kakani- 12, Shaun Gandhi- 7. Leading rebounders where: Shaun Gandhi- 8, Ayaan Patel- 6, Pierce Huynh-6. The Wranglers will travel to Vista Ridge next Monday for their first away game of the year.
