On Tuesday, the Lady Wranglers Wrestling team traveled to Fossil Ridge High School to compete against wrestlers out of Keller. This was the third match in seven days for the Lady Wranglers, so some of our Wrestlers were competing in their seventh or eighth bout this week. Wrestling this many bouts in a week is physically and mentally challenging, but each of our wrestlers rose to the occasion and refused to back down.
Fossil Ridge had some very experienced, hard-working wrestlers, but our girls hit the mats ready to fight. Each one of our wrestlers represented West incredibly well both on and off the mats. Here are a few that stood out... Eliana Acuna fought a wrestler with years of experience and nearly gave her the first loss of her season. She did not ultimately come out with the win, but she fought so hard and left everything out on the mats. Howra Abubeker brought home a win after a long, hard-fought battle against her opponent. Howra never gave up and fought with all she had. After using some new techniques from practice, she pinned her opponent at the end of the match. Howra Abubeker is our first Wrestler of the Week. The second Wrestler of the Week was Lilly Davis. Although the other wrestlers only had one bout, Lilly had two bouts this week. She fought incredibly hard in both and was able to bring home two wins for the Lady Wranglers. Lilly remains undefeated this season, with a record of 7-0.
