The CMS West Wranglers A team lost a heartbreaker to the CMS North Cougars on Monday night, ending the Wranglers 2 game winning streak. The Wranglers had their best shooting night of the season but it wasn’t enough to knock out the undefeated Cougars. The Wranglers came out hot. The Wranglers took a 14-5 lead after the first quarter with some huge shots from Shaun Gandhi. The Wrangler defense was also swarming the Cougars offense. The Cougars found their rhythm in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Wranglers 16-9, giving the Wranglers a 2 point lead going into the half. West would come out again big in the 3rd quarter to start the second half. Great offensive play by Pierce Huynh and rebounding by Taylor Johns got the Wranglers lead up to 8 going into the final frame. It was in the 4th quarter where the Cougar offense shined and the Wranglers offense struggled. With 6 seconds left the Cougars took the ball the length of the court and hit a layup as time expired to send the game into Overtime. The Wranglers struggled to get anything going and lost in overtime 57-49. Leading scorers for the Wranglers were: Shaun Gandhi- 22 & Pierce Huynh- 18. Leading rebounders were: Taylor Johns- 13, Shaun Gandhi- 11, Pierce Huynh- 6 & Ayaan Patel- 4. The Wranglers enter the Holiday Break with a 2-3 record.


7th Grade B Team:
North: 52
West: 26

The 7th Grade B team traveled up Denton Tap this past Monday to face off against the CMS North Cougars. The Wranglers had a tremendous night shooting the ball from the field and working their offense in sync but it was not enough to overcome the mighty Cougar offense. The Wranglers defense struggle all evening to out rebound the Cougars, which ultimately lead to a lot of 2nd chance points for North. Leading the Wranglers in scoring were: Vihaan Desai- 8, Pavan Venkatakrishnan- 6, & Ashim Adhikari- 6. Leading rebounders were: Deandrea Mack- 8, Vihaan Desai- 6, Pavan Venkatakrishnan- 5. After the break, the Coppell Middle School West Wranglers will take on the Wilson Middle School Wildcats.



7th Grade C Team:
North: 29
West: 18

The Coppell Middle School West Wrangler C Team lost the game on the road against the Coppell Middle School North Cougars. It was a close game throughout the first quarter, which ended with the Cougars up 6 to 5. The Cougars were able to build a lead going into halftime, ending the second quarter up 13 to 7. The Wranglers outscored the Cougars in the third quarter, but the Cougars came back in the fourth. The final score was 29 to 18. Wrangler forward, Prateek Pilly, led the offense with 9 points throughout the game. He also led the team with 3 steals. Wrangler guard, Dev Patel, led the team in rebounds, along with Pilly, who both had 4 on the game. After the break, the Coppell Middle School West Wranglers will take on the Wilson Middle School Wildcats.
