This week the Coppell Middle School West Wranglers took on cross town rivals Coppell Middle School Cougars. The Wranglers started off the gate with pressure that caused several turnovers from the Cougars. Robert Watson and Samardh Talagadadeevi set the tone on offense with layups and jump shots that helped the Wranglers get a double digit lead. The Wranglers were up 15 to 4 at the end of the first quarter. Going into the second quarter the Wranglers kept up the pressure and the lead kept increasing. Andrew Ma, and De’Wayvein Witcher had several steals, Madhav Kumar impacted the game with his strong presence in the post. Cristuan Young made several three pointers, Ritvesh Achivenkata, Prabhav and Sachid Pola played amazing the entire night. The Wranglers won with the final score 61-25. The Wranglers entered the Holiday Break with a 4-1 record.
8th Grade B Team:
West: 46
North: 38
The Coppell Middle School West Wranglers took on Coppell Middle School North Cougars this past Monday. The game was intense from start to finish. The Wranglers came out slow at first, not making shots they are accustomed to making. The Cougars capitalized on that and took a lead going into the second quarter. As the second quarter started the Wranglers started to pick it up offensively with baskets from Arya Bonthu, and Ayaan Patel. Evan Baltimore and Ashil Desai came off the bench and gave the Wranglers solid production. Phillip Fordjour led the Wranglers with 16 rebounds! The Wranglers aggressive play was too much for the Cougars. The Wranglers won with the final score being 46-38. The Wranglers entered the Holiday Break with a 3-2 record.
After the break, the Coppell Middle School West Wranglers will take on the Wilson Middle School Wildcats on the road.
8th Grade C Team:
West: 34
North: 30
The Coppell Middle School West Wranglers took on the Coppell Middle School North Cougars Monday night. It was a hard fought back and forth battle, but the Wranglers pulled out the victory in the end after outscoring the Cougars in the fourth quarter. Denim Jones led the way in scoring with 16 points to go along with 4 steals. Tre Carthen also snagged a few steals. The big men, Pranav Vempati and Anush Bindlish went to work under the goal grabbing as many rebounds as they could fit into their hands. Dayton Tran and Landen Kuene kept their feet moving constantly playing some great defense vs the Cougars. The athletes will take a well deserved holiday break and look to keep the momentum going upon return against the Wilson Middle School Wildcats.
