LADY WRANGLERS BATTLE THE COUGARS

Lady Wranglers Battle the Cougars

GIRLS ATHLETICS

Girls Basketball | 12/16/2022

The C team started the night off against the Cougars but fell short and lost 13-30. The girls struggled to break the press and look for opportunities to score. Our Lady Wranglers played their hearts out and never gave up. Our player of the game goes to Harshi Bandaru! Harshi had a total of 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 5 points. Other mentionable players go to Sofiia Olivares and Sophia Houston for their communication efforts and their aggressiveness on the court. Over the break the girls should work on their ball handling skills with their eyes up to prepare for their next game against Wilson.

The B team also struggled against the relentless press by the Cougars. Once the ball was inbounds, the Cougars would quickly transition to trap our Lady Wranglers, force a turnover, and score. In the end, our B team girls lost 4-35. Regardless of the score, the girls never backed down and played until the end. Our player of the game goes to Isabella (Izzy) Smith who had a total of 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 points. In addition, her feisty attitude made a large presence on the court. Also, Addison Hatfield shined bright like a diamond with her A+ sportsmanship! All the girls need to be working on dribbling with their eyes up, making stronger passes, and no second guessing their decisions. Lots of work to be done before Wilson, but we will be ready.

Our A team finished off the night last night, struggling on some things, but looking better at some things as well. We struggled at the boards both in scoring at rebounds and it really affected the end score. Overall, we hung in there in most other respects, and I was proud of the girls for showing some toughness and working through some rough situations. They played a lot of minutes of basketball, and each one is making them better and better each week. Our player of the game this week, who has shown effort both in practice and at our game was Srika Kondareddy. She played a lot of minutes, and is turning into a utility player that we may need in the future.

Merry ‘Quismois’, and Happy New Year!
