The Lady Wrangler 8th grade basketball teams had their first cross-town rival game at home against the North Cougars on Thursday night. The Lady Wrangler B Team had an aggressive and fast-paced game against the Lady Cougars. The game went back and forth defensively throughout the game, and the Lady Wranglers continued to fight until the very end of the game. Kanishka Muthukuri led the team with great ball handling and reading the court for good offense. With 4 points, 1 steal, and 1 rebound, she led with aggressiveness and confidence. Suha Parvathaneni led the Lady Wranglers with 8 rebounds, playing hard in the paint and getting multiple shots up. Sade Fontaine also led the Lady Wranglers with speed and aggressiveness, making the Cougar Defense work to keep the ball. Although a loss, the team has taken note of where to improve, and will continue to work hard throughout the season to bring home a few more Lady Wrangler Wins!

The Lady Wrangler A team had a slow start to the aggressive Cougar defense and quick shooting, however, the Lady Wranglers never stopped trying and gave it their all until the very end. Jamyson High-Williams led the team with 14 points, 3 steals and 2 rebounds while Aditi Yechangunja had 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals and Taliah Ellis had 2 points and 15 rebounds. Faiza Firdaws had a good game on both offense and defense with 2 points and 4 steals. Even though the Lady Wranglers had a slow start, the team was able to come back and score 12 points in the 4th quarter to close the gap against the Cougars and keep them to only scoring 2 points in the 4th. Overall, it was not the best game by the Lady Wranglers, but they plan on using this game to their advantage and learning from their mistakes to work towards a better outcome when they come back in January to take on the Wlison Wildcats on Thursday, January 12.
