Lady Wranglers Wrestling Fights the Dragons

West Girls Athletics | 12/16/2022

The Lady Wranglers Wrestling Team was back on their home turf this week to take on Coppell’s long-time rival, the Southlake Dragons. The Lady Wranglers came out ready to fight after a couple of great weeks of wrestling. They had high expectations for this match, and they did not disappoint! Due to scheduling conflicts, the Lady Wranglers had fewer wrestlers than usual, but they were still able to secure five wins.

Eliana Acuna took the mats first and started off the night with an exciting match. She fought neck and neck with her opponent, and although she did not win her first bout, she started the night off on a great note. Eliana later brought home a win for the Lady Wranglers in an intense match. Samantha Foster was next up, and she was ready to take the mats against her opponent. Although she did not bring home a win during the match, Samantha had two amazing bouts that were fought with high intensity and incredible grit. The next wrestler to take the mats was Fiona Erb. Fiona fought her best match of the season, using new techniques, hustle, and intensity throughout the entire match. This enabled her to bring home her first win of the season. Next up was Howra Abubeker, who hit the mats confident after a great match last week. She came out with even higher levels of skill and intensity this week and was able to secure a win for the Lady Wranglers. Last up for the Lady Wranglers was Lilly Davis, who has an undefeated record this season. After two very well-fought matches, Lilly was able to bring home two wins for the Lady Wranglers. This brought the team’s total number of wins for the night to 5 and Lilly’s total number of wins for the season to 9. Although we had a great showing from every one of our wrestlers, Fiona Erb was our Wrestler of the Week for fighting such a great match and securing her first win of the season.

We are so proud of each of our wrestlers for their hard work in this and every match, and we are already looking forward to the next one. In their next match, the Lady Wranglers will compete on January 7th at the CHS Arena for their second Saturday Tournament of the season. We can’t wait to see you there!
