This week in Coppell Athletics the West basketball team played a home game against cross town rivals the East Broncos. The game was the most intense game of the season so far for the Wranglers. The Wranglers started off slow offensively. The normal shots that they are accustomed to making throughout the season weren't going into the basket Monday night. The Broncos held a double digit lead going into the second quarter. The Wranglers focused more on defense to get back into the game. Arya Bonthu, and Ayaan Patel stole the basketball several possessions in a row to cut the Broncos lead down. Reuben Sarkodie, and Philip Fordjour grabbed several offensive rebounds to keep possessions alive for the Wranglers. Those extra possessions helped the Wranglers score which in result gave them the lead. The Broncos then went on a run to take a 4 point lead going into halftime. In the 3rd quarter the Wranglers switched defensive coverages to throw off the Broncos. The switch worked for a while and the Wranglers got the lead again. Then some unforced turnovers happened with the Wranglers which caused the Wranglers to foul the Broncos to get the lead back. But it wasn’t enough as the Broncos won on the score of 38-37. The Wranglers will look to get back to their winning ways next week on the road against Timberview Middle School.
