Last night, the Lady Wranglers kicked off their season against Keller Middle School. Our experienced players stepped up to be great leaders on the team, and our newer players rose to the challenge of competing in a new sport. Although we were not able to secure a win last night, the games were incredibly well fought by both of our teams, and it was a fantastic way to start our season.
Despite only having three practices together before the game, the Lady Wranglers came out and fought incredibly hard against their opponents. Our A team started us off strong with a great demonstration of teamwork. The Lady Wranglers’ communication, determination, and grit made a big difference in the game. Our A team players of the game were Salome Cruz Gutierrez for making more than ten incredible saves in the goal and Madison Hartzell for her vocal strong leadership. After watching our A team set a great example of how to fight hard and play well as a team, our B team took the field. Despite many of them being new to the game, every athlete came out excited to play and ready to work hard. They communicated well, aggressively pursued the ball, encouraged one another constantly, and hustled relentlessly throughout the game. Our B team players of the game were Pratyasha Sahoo for her intensity on the field, Safiya Syeda for her aggression on defense, and Ridhina Mohan for her relentless hustle throughout the game.
Although the Lady Wranglers did not bring home a win against Keller, we could not be more proud of their efforts in their first games of the season. This was a phenomenal starting point for the team, and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for them. Next Thursday, the Lady Wranglers will head back to their home turf to face off against the Tidwell Titans. We hope to see you there!
