Lady Wranglers Soccer Nears The End of A Great Season

WEST GIRLS ATHLETICS

West Girls Athletics | 5/8/2023

The Lady Wranglers soccer team has had an incredible season this spring. They have made incredible progress and worked very well as a team, encouraging one another and lifting one another up throughout the season. We have had some incredible leaders step up to lead both vocally and by example, and we have had some new players find a passion for soccer this season. We could not be more proud of the hard work, effort, sportsmanship, and teamwork that our Lady Wranglers have shown at each and every practice and at each and every game.
On April 20th, the Lady Wranglers took on their crosstown rivals, the East Broncos, on their home turf. Despite rain delays due to a storm that blew in, we played an absolutely incredible game and held the Broncos to one goal by the time of the delay. When we came back, the Lady Wranglers took the field with high intensity once again and gave the Broncos a fight. Shout outs go to Esha Polishetty for scoring an incredible goal, Madison Hartzell for assisting that goal with a beautiful throw in, and Remass Aleswed for stepping into a brand new position and getting more than 10 saves in the goal. Unfortunately, the storm ultimately canceled the B team’s game, but they did a fantastic job of supporting our A team throughout the night and got even more excited to take the field the following week against Medlin.
On April 27th, the Lady Wranglers traveled to Medlin Middle School to compete against the Medlin Mustangs. Both teams started off strong, and although we ultimately did not come out with a win, there were many moments to celebrate, such as Hanae Taira scoring a beautiful goal for the Lady Wranglers B Team (pictured above). The A Team players of the game were Izzy Smith, Faiza Firdaws, and Remass Aleswed. The B Team players of the game were Hanae Taira, Neha Bikkina, and Mya Barnes.
On May 2nd, the Lady Wranglers took on their crosstown rivals, the North Cougars, on their home turf. It had been a long day after the STAAR test, but the Lady Wranglers did not let that deter them, hitting the field with high energy and upbeat attitudes. The A Team players of the game were Natalie Alvarez, Khushi Singla, and Addie Hatfield. The B Team players of the game were Lilly Davis, Nataizya Gandhle, Aadya Gullapalli, and Sri Sahasra Tiyyagura.
Although the season has flown by, it is fortunately not over yet! This Wednesday, the Lady Wranglers will have their final game of the season in Keller against the Hillwood Chargers. Come on out and support our Lady Wranglers in their final time taking the field together this season!
