7th grade Lady Wranglers host their first home game against Cross Timbers!

WEST GIRLS ATHLETICS

West Girls Athletics | 9/14/2023

A Team- The Lady Wranglers started off their season at home against Cross Timbers. They put up a fight, but fell short losing against Cross Timbers 2-0. Madison Villegas was spot on with her serving, gaining 4 aces. Kendi Kimathi did a great job as libero and dug out some tough hits from Cross Timbers. She earned her Wrangler of the Week recognition. Her hustle and effort were outstanding. Ayraa Vijay had some close saves at the net. All the girls did a great job for their first game. Just need a little work with communication and court awareness on serve receive.

B Team - B team started off our first home game of the season. As a team, the girls struggled to find their rhythm to send serves over and in. Once the Crosstimbers started gaining the lead against us, the Lady Wranglers started shutting down. Our communication became non existent and our drive plummeted. We lost the first match 11 to 25. However, early in the second match we found our mojo and the girls began to rally back. Alia Ghuzavi sent over 4 consecutive serves, and earned 4 aces. Tanisha Yadav and Ximena Villalvazo each had multiple defensive digs. Another shoutout goes to Lyric Polk, our setter, who never gave up on a play. All in all the Lady Wranglers played their hearts out, but still have lots to learn.

C Team - The C team girls ended the night for our first home game series. The Lady Wranglers started off incredibly excited and eager to play. However, quickly into the first match, the girls could not deny the talent on the Crosstimbers C team. Everyone had a difficult time returning a hard serve over the net. Between shanked balls and miscommunication, the Lady Wranglers quickly fell behind. However, our MVP, Malia Roberts, had a great game. Malia had great sets, multiple defensive digs, and 3 aces/serves. Another honorable mention goes to Jannah Sanadi who shined defensively. No matter the score, the girls played hard! We look forward to our next game against Coppell North here at home.
