On April 18th, the Lady Wranglers traveled to Colleyville to face a fierce opponent, the Colleyville Colts. Despite missing several players and facing some unique transportation challenges on the way to the game, the A team took the field ready to play. The Colleyville Colts A team had a strong offense, but the Lady Wranglers were not phased. They used strong defense and great communication to suppress the offense and only allowed the Colts to get minimal shots on goal by the end of the game. They collaborated well as a team and enacted many of the skills and techniques we have been working on in practice— We are so proud of the progress we are seeing in this team in such a short time. The A team Wranglers of the Week were Jordan Brown, Alia Ghuznavi, and Kendi Kimathi, with honorable mentions for our goalies, Lilly Davis and Poshika Eswaran.
Just like the A team, the Lady Wranglers B team began their game with high intensity. Despite facing a fierce defense from the Lady Wranglers, the Colts were very strong on offense and were able to take over thirty shots on goal by the end of the game. However, thanks to our hard-working goalkeeper, Anvita Vanga, more than 66% of those goals were saved. The Lady Wranglers have been doing a phenomenal job of improving their communication, ball movement, and spacing, and we’re so proud of the progress they have made in the past few weeks. The Wranglers of the Week for B team were Aditi Bhandari, Medha Devdhar, Kaleena Huynh, Danielle Marshall, and Pratyasha Sahoo, with an honorable mention for Anvita Vanga in the goal.
Although we did not come out with a win, we are proud of the hard work, growth, and progress of this team. They are improving as a team and as individuals every day, and we cannot wait to see all they accomplish this season. We look forward to playing in front of our home crowd again next week against the Cross Timbers Wolves. We hope to see you there!
