8th Grade VB Fights Hard Against Heritage Broncos

WEST GIRLS ATHLETICS

West Girls Athletics | 9/12/2024

The Lady Wrangler 8th grade volleyball teams traveled to Heritage Middle school for their second game of the season on Thursday night. Up first was the Lady Wrangler B team. Fresh off of their win from last week, the B team took the court fired up and ready to go. They had incredible hustle and some long rallies that resulted in lots of energy being built up on the court and in the stands. They fought incredibly well through both games, and although they ultimately did not win the game, we are so proud of their hard work this week. The Wranglers of the Week were Lyric Polk and Samyuktha Gottumukkala.

After a well-fought game from the B team, the A team stepped onto the court with high levels of intensity. The Heritage Broncos got out to an early lead in the first game that resulted in the Lady Wranglers being down 12-23, but the Lady Wranglers did not give up. After a serving run of twelve by Madison Villegas, the Lady Wranglers were able to come back and ultimately won the first game 27-25. They fought tooth and nail through the next game but ultimately came up short, bringing the Lady Wranglers to their first set to 3 this season. Although third games are first to 15, the game was so well-fought by both teams that they ended up reaching the cap at 17. With a 16-16 score, the final point of the game ended with a tight ball that could have dropped on either side of the net, but it trickled to our side, resulting in a victory for the Heritage Broncos. The Lady Wranglers truly left everything out on the court and we could not be more proud of them for their hard work, fight, and resilience. The Wranglers of the Week are Alette Brown, Ayraa Vijay, and Madison Villegas.

The C team was energized by the two amazing games before them and took the court ready to play. They had strong passes and long rallies, and they did a great job of communicating with one another on the court. As always, it was incredible to see the way our C team relentlessly encourages one another on and off the court. Although they did not ultimately secure a win, the Lady Wranglers C team fought incredibly hard and we are so proud of the way they showed up this week. The Wrangler of the Week was Taleen Abuhamdeh.

We are so proud of all three teams and the fight that they showed this week. We are so excited to see what all is to come for them throughout the rest of this season. We hope that you can join us tonight, as we will take on the East Broncos in our first home game of the season! Go Lady Wranglers!
