On November 14, 2024, the Lady Wranglers 8th Grade Basketball Teams took on the Lady Mustangs from Grapevine Middle in their first game of the season. At home, the Lady Wranglers were able to take 2 wins out of the night, with B and C Team beating the Mustangs, and the A Team falling just 8 points short of winning.
Starting off the night, the B Team for the Lady Wranglers came in aggressive and ready to fight for the ball and the win. Anika Shori, the offensive player of the week, with more than 6 points, drew the Lady Mustang defense away and was able to pull up on key shots the entire night. While the defensive player of the game, Klohee Williams, fought hard for the rebounds and ball in the paint, while defending the board. The Lady Wranglers ended up winning 25-16. Great start ladies!
Our A Team played next, fighting hard, but sadly coming up short, losing 38-30. With speed led by Lyric Polk, Naomi Thomas, and Kendi Kimathi, the Lady Wranglers were able to get around the Lady Mustang defense, but fell short in rebounding and executing well done lay ups. With heads still held high, the girls are working hard over the next week to avenge the loss.
Lastly, our C Team took the final win of the night in a quick back-and-forth win. With Jenny Wu leading the Lady Wranglers in shots and with her speed, the Lady Mustangs struggled to keep up with our team throughout the night. The Lady Wrangler defense got tougher throughout the night, and they won with a 16-11 score.
Overall, our 8th grade teams did a a great job, but will continue to work hard throughout the season to improve even more! Come cheer on our Lady Wranglers again next Thursday, November 21, 2024, at home, as they face Heritage Middle School.
