The CMS West 7th Grade A team was back in action this week against the Timberview Hawks. The Wranglers fought back from an early deficit to defeat the Hawks 49-41 to get back on their winning ways. The Wranglers were a little sluggish out of the gate, finding themselves in a 6 point deficit at the end of the first quarter. Timberview’s offense was clicking on all cylinders to start the game, but the Wrangler defense stepped up in the second quarter, cutting their lead to just 3 points going into halftime. The second half would be all Wranglers! Leading scorer for the Wranglers on the night, Pierce Huynh, would have 12 points on his own in the 3rd quarter to help the West Wranglers go up by 5 entering the final frame. Some late buckets and key free throws by Shaun Gandhi would seal it for the Wranglers. Leading the Wranglers in scoring were: Pierce Huynh- 29, Shaun Gandhi- 8, Ayaan Patel- 4, & Svar patel- 4. Leading the Wranglers in rebounds were: Taylor Johns, Pierce Huynh, and Nyne Palmer with 4 each. The Wrangler B team was back in action at home on Monday night to take on the Timberview Hawks. An explosion on offense and smothering defense got the West Wranglers back in the game as they outscored the Hawks 12-0 in the 3rd quarter to bring the score to 18-15 entering the final 7 minutes. A back and forth 4th quarter ensued and the Hawks just had too much left in their tank compared to the Wranglers and the Wranglers fell 30-21.
