The 7th grade Lady Wrangler volleyball teams traveled to Timberview Middle school for their last game on the road to take on the Lady Hawks. All 3 teams were hungry for a win before their last game of the season, and the C team started the night off with a nail-biter.

The C team’s goals in this game were communication and encouragement, and they went above and beyond to achieve those goals. Regardless of how the play went, the girls came together and encouraged each other after every single point. When a ball came between them, they communicated loudly and stepped up to take the ball. They came out in the first set with amazing energy, and although they fell short in the first set, their powerful positive energy carried over into the second set. After fighting hard to win the second set, the Lady Wrangler C team came on to the court fired up, and gave everything they had in the third set. They went point for point with the Lady Hawks throughout the game. The third game had a cap at 17, and after reaching a tie at 16-16, the Lady Hawks ended up winning the game 17-16. Although they didn’t come out with a win, the C team left everything they had on the court, had so much to be proud of, and played their best game of the season! The players of the game were Imani Rogers for her serves and encouragement and Dhrithi Nerella for her strong hits and positive energy.

The B team came on to the court fired up and ready to play after watching the C team’s incredible game. They started off with some great passes in serve receive and some long rallies. Setters Mya Barnes and Spruha Mudgalkar did a great job of keeping the ball in play, and the vocal leadership of Anjini Subramanian and Isabella Smith helped keep the team’s energy high throughout the game. The B team fought hard in the first set, but they lacked communication and fell ultimately short. They worked hard in the second set to improve their communication and gave the Lady Hawks a fight. Although they were not able to secure the win, they worked incredibly hard and improved their communication significantly between set one and set two. The players of the game were Hanae Taira for her powerful ace and consistent passing, and Maanya Vegesna for her positive attitude and great hustle.

The Lady Wrangler A team had a great first game with only 2 servers getting 11 of their points and 4 aces to go with those. All players were looking more comfortable on the court and especially back at the service line, but serve-receive still proved to be difficult for the Lady Wranglers at times. The Lady Wranglers had some moments of greatness and Anglisse Gomez had a big block on the front row along with Pranavi Madala having an ace and a few free ball kills, but it just wasn’t enough. The Lady Wranglers fell 19-25 in the first set. The second set started off strong and was close for most of it, but one server served 5 in a row and the Lady Wranglers struggled to get out of the hole they were in. Players of the game went to Aaliyah Nicholson for her 7 aggressive serves and 2 aces and Layal Abou-Jamous for her 6 big serves, 2 aces, and some big digs on the back row.

Overall, the 3 teams did a great job competing hard against the Lady Hawks and they are ready to focus and give their last week of practice all they have. The Lady Wranglers are looking forward to taking on their cross-town rivals, the East Broncos in their last game of the season on Wednesday night at home.
